This Spanish-era cannon was uncovered by workers during an excavation in nearby Sapang Bato in 1951. It was cast in Peru in 1778, using copper sourced there and from Mexico, and may have once been mounted aboard the Spanish warship “Seville.” It is also assumed that this cannon was one of the weapons used by Filipino forces in their defense of Angeles City in 1899, during the height of the Philippine-American War.
